Thoughts on Live Poker Tournaments

Our illustrious Ops Manager has written a piece for the latest issue of iGaming Business Magazine relating to the marriage of offline and online poker and how land-based and online operators, who sometimes still occupy different sides of the room, have been joining forces to organize live poker tournaments.

The glue to this unlikely wedding is a costly acquisition and retention strategy designed to satisfy the online market demand for more live action. Whilst large operators may have enough liquidity and power to open new poker clubs, it makes financial sense for most of them to form an alliance, let's say, with existing local clubs. The commitment will still be considerable but the pay off in terms of acquisition, retention, brand loyalty, and a major monetization of offline poker must have enough potential and appeal for the big brands.

So there! One interesting upshot of this is that, in Italy for example, this inextricable link has been recognized and AAMS is moving to issue licenses for Live Poker. Smart move, by the country which has shown the way for nations such as France and Spain.

More details can be found in the March/April issue of iGaming Business Magazine. Anyway, that's enough of that - time for a plug! We are organizing a Live Poker Tournament in Malta, in May for Vegas365 Poker.

There is a 100k EUR Guaranteed event, Omaha events, side events... and potentially an Elvis impersonator! Check out details on how to qualify here or get in touch with us if you want more details.
